Does Butcher’s Broom Box holly help against cancer?

Butcher’s Broom Box holly is low evergreen shrub with small greenish flowers that appear in spring. This plant is used to treat lymphedema. Lymphedema refers the swelling that generally occurs in one of your arms or legs and sometimes both arms and both legs swell. One clinical study showed that butcher’s broom product decreased lymphedema in women who had undergone therapy for breast cancer. Ruscogenin, one of the major components of butcher’s broom, decreases inflammation likely by inhibiting TNF-alpha which a small protein used by our immune system for cell signaling.
