All of the so-called diseases of aging, the age-related diseases that kill and disabled early seem to have a common root and inappropriate inflammation. Now, we all know inflammation on the surface of the body as local redness, heat, swelling and pain, inflammation is the cornerstone of the body’s healing response. It’s how the body gets more nourishment and more immune activity to an area that’s under attack or injured. But inflammation is so powerful and it’s so potentially destructive that the body has very complex mechanisms to ensure that it stays where it’s supposed to stay and ends when it’s supposed to end.
If inflammation persists, serves no purpose, and escapes its boundaries of time and space, it becomes productive of disease. So, there is a growing body of evidence suggesting that chronic, low level, unnoticeable inflammation throughout the body that eventually results in or creates the foundation for these age-related diseases. Even diseases as bad as cardiovascular disease, cancer and neurodegenerative disease.
Therefore, going through life with an anti-inflammatory lifestyle is important even though most people in our part of the world go through life in a pro inflammatory state. You should eat an abundance of fruits and vegetables because these are the sources of highly protective phyto nutrients that strongly enhance our body defenses against cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases.
