Restylane or Radiesse to achieve my goal better?

Radiesse Before and after

Q. I would like to have fuller cheeks. I wonder if Restylane or Radiesse would help me achieve my goal better?

Dr. Nicolas Batty recommends both agents as good choices.  More important than the filler is the injector you choose as the results would depend on the operator. For cheek enhancement, Radiesse will last a little longer than Restylane. Restylane is a little softer with less swelling and slightly less G prime. G prime (G’) is a rating that measures the viscosity and elasticity of a dermal filler and indicates how soft or stiff it is. One of the highest G prime fillers on the market is Radiesse.  This is a measure of lifting ability.  It will last anywhere from 12-18 months for most people.  Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q. Is it possible that I can receive Juvederm and Radiesse together?

Juvederm and calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse®) can be used in the same area. If you get one filler like Radiesse and want to wish for more filler, then it is possible to use any filler on top of that filler. As there is no interaction between the two agents. If you’ve received Radiesse first, then you may experience swelling which can continue for up to 4-5 days. Therefore, Dr. Nicolas Batty recommends waiting for this to subside before adding more. Importantly, Radiesse is not a lip filler because you get long term nodules. Radiesse has been a problem for people who got their lips injected.  It creates the problem you describe, hard nodules in the lips.  These need to be exercised to improve.  Radiesse is a great filler though, but not for the tear trough and lips.  Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q: I have experienced a ridge after Radiesse? What would you advise?

Experiencing ridge after Radiesse in the orbital rim area was reported. In this case, your provider may attempt injecting saline with lidocaine to mechanically break up. Some experts advise that there has been some success with the very few episodes of Radiesse clumping by using a combination of lidocaine and saline in this area. Also, your provider may move the needle in and out to try to break up the area. Others found solutions by cutting it out or camouflaging with another filler like Restylane. Q. I Have a ridge After Radiesse!! What is It? and How Can I Make It Disappear? I got Radiesse injections in my cheeks 6 days ago. Swelling progressively getting worse. What should I do?

Radiesse is not recommended to be used in tear troughs.  Radiesse is a thick filler and tends to show in the thin skin around the eye. It’s great for filling the cheek, but not the area which is close to the eye. It also has a tendency to clump. So, for tear troughs, Restylane or Belotero are typically fillers that are applied for this treatment area. Also, to minimize downtime and the chance of bruising, Dr. Nicolas Batty suggests using blunt cannulas for this treatment. Some clients receive Radiesse but then they experience progressive swelling that gets worse. In this particular case, Dr. Nicolas Batty advised that this swelling after Radiesse is unusual. Therefore, you would need to seek attention from a health care provider. As the swelling expected after Radiesse must typically subside in 3-4 days. As it could be possibly an infection or angioedema. Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q. Is it possible to use Juvederm and Radiesse can be used in the same area?

If you get one filler like Radiesse and want to get more filler, it’s ok to use any filler on top of that filler. There is no interaction between the 2. If you’ve done Radiesse first, it has swelling which can persist for 4-5 days so wait for that to calm down before adding more. It is advised to wait about 10 days before the client undergoes to inject more filler in someone.  Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q. I am getting ready for my engagement party and thinking of getting Radiesse. Would I recover on time?

It is relatively quick to recover from Radiesse especially if the provider injects it with blunt cannulas. Radiesse has a particular swelling for a few days after injection.  There is nothing that can be done to combat that.  So, in order to recover rapidly, Dr. Nicolas Batty advised using blunt cannulas so there is minimal bruising and less swelling.  Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q. I am 24-year-old now. Would I be considered too young to have Radiesse for my smile lines (nasolabial folds)?

There really is no age limit as to when to get fillers.  If you have a concern about your nasolabial folds then try some fillers.  If you don’t like them, after about a year, you are back to where you started plus one year of aging. Q: How to Get Rid of a Botelero Ridge Lump?

Belotero is a hyaluronic acid so it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. It would be unusual to have bumps from Belotero because its properties cause it to integrate with the skin and become rather smooth.  However, if you do have ridges, the first thing would be massaging the area.  If this weren’t to work, then hyaluronidase will work fine.  Lasers don’t dissolve fillers. Q: Will Radiesse Help Achieve Sculpted Cheek and Eliminate Slight Jowl?

Radiesse is an excellent choice to help lift cheek and fill pre-jowl sulcus. Radiesse has the highest G prime of all fillers which means it has the greatest lifting ability.  You will need at least 2, maybe 3 syringes to get the improvement.  Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q: Is There a Way to Remove Lumpy Radiesse Be Removed from Tear Trough?

Radiesse in the tear trough shouldn’t be done. The tear trough is very thin skin, and you need a thin filler like Restylane or Belotero for that area.  Hopefully after 2 weeks it will not be noticeable.  It tends to swell for about 3 days so don’t be concerned at this point.  If it’s still a problem for 2 weeks, try some saline to break it up.  If that doesn’t work, it’s either time or surgical removal.  Regarding using Radiesse in one cheek because some patients have one cheek larger than another. Typically, people wish to achieve symmetry of their face. In such cases, experts would opt to use Restylane, as it can be erased with hyaluronidase if you don’t like it.   Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org. Q: How would I know if I am a good candidate for Radiesse for my chin and cheek enhancement?

Experts find  Radiesse to a great choice for chin and cheek enhancement. Radiesse is a very hardy filler, great for creating “pseudo implants” in the cheeks and chin area.  If cannulas are used, bruising and swelling should be minimized.  Blunt cannulas are the way to go with the Radiesse for less bruising, less swelling, and less discomfort.  There are no knock offs for Radiesse.  There is a little more swelling with Radiesse than the other fillers like Restylane or Perlane and it’s not reversable like the HA fillers. Q: How would I know if I am a good candidate for Radiesse for my chin and cheek enhancement?

Ideally, it is advised to wait one month to determine final improvement after receiving Radiesse.  Radiesse is made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite which is a naturally occurring substance. Radiesse is made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite which is found in bone and joints.  It is great for volumizing, where there are large deficits, because it corrects about one and a half to one when compared to the hyaluronic acid fillers. It was not reported to have been related to causing malignancy. Contact us at MCNYC The Medical Clinic NYC, Dr. Nicolas Batty at info@icrmc.org and book your consultation at www.icrmc.org.
