Does Phellinus linteus help against cancer?

Phellinus linteus is a yellow, bitter-tasting mushroom that is used in traditional medicine in Asia where it is often mixed with Reishi and Maitake. It is as an adjunctive treatment during cancer therapy. Phellinus linteus has been shown in some test tube studies to inhibit growth of tumor. One study which was done in patients with pancreatic cancer suggested that Phellinus may be helpful as an add-on therapy which means to add it to the conventional treatment. There were also few cases of liver and prostate cancers where the cancer did shrink after consuming this mushroom. Phellinus linteus also has traditional applications in the treatment of hemorrhage, hemostasis which means stopping blood flow. Studies in test tubes showed that Phellinus made the pancreatic and colon cancer cells more sensitive to chemotherapy. It is known that Hispidin is the active compound in this type of mushroom. This mushroom also showed to be effective against cells of colon and lung cancer.
