Does Folate help against cancer?
Studies on increased folate intake to reduce cancer risk are mixed. Deficiency has been linked to development of esophageal squamous cell cancer and low levels of folate in the blood with certain forms of cancer, whereas higher levels of dietary folate have been shown to reduce the risk of breast and pancreatic cancers, but not prostate cancer. Taking folate helps to reverse the abnormal cervical cells from becoming cancer cells.
